Born Veronica Mary Glazer on 18 September 1944 in Yorkshire, England she spent most of her childhood in Germany where her father was stationed. She attended the Thetford Girls' School and later, High Wycombe College of Technology and Design, where she studied art and participated in college amateur productions
James Carreras, the boss of Hammer Films, saw one of her photographs in a newspaper and offered her a role opposite Christopher Lee in "Dracula Has Risen from the Grave", where she played the hapless Maria. She also appeared in "Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed" (1969) where she was brutalised by the evil Peter Cushing and "The Horror of Frankenstein" (1970) where she was chased by monster David Prowse.
After her brief career in a handful of Hammer films and a few other minor parts in movies and television programmes (including The Saint, Randall & Hopkirk and Department S), Carlson's star faded as quickly as it had risen, however she had assured herself a place in horror film history as one of the stunning women that graced the screen during Hammer's wonderful renaissance of the horror genre.
She currently lives in Florida with her family. She is now a successful painter with many commissions and appears regularly at horror film conventions & memorabilia shows, where her portraits of her horror film co-stars have commanded thousands of dollars.
